Not many posts lately! How's everybody doing? How far along is everybody, how are your doc appts going? Any other exciting news? New BFPs?
I had an appt with the "unsupportive" doc in my practice today I hope to god I get to avoid her when the time comes, since she has lectured me about VBACs both times I've had to see her. She also told me today that I couldn't labor at home because it's "just not safe." Ok lady, *smile and nod*. I had a day full of contractions yesterday, but refused the internal today.... I just couldn't handle finding out I was still 0 cm if that was the case. I'd rather not know and remain blissfully optimistic.
Have a good day ladies! Here's hoping to a quick and early (before your 40/41 weeks cut off at least!) labor for all of us!
Re: So slow around here..... check in?
As for me... I'm not pregnant, but I still check this board every time I get on the bump
I'm a VBAC stalker too - I thrive off of the positive stories. I hope to read one from you soon!
I meet with a new midwife next week to discuss their policies. I'm also attending an ICAN VBAC seminar on the 12th. DH is coming with me, so I'm hoping we can break down some of his fear barriers.
I'm almost 35 weeks. My MW wouldn't stop labor if it happened now. I'm getting SO CLOSE to trying for my VBAC. I just keep my fingers & toes crossed that labor starts on it's own this time around.
Good T&P to all the other VBAC hopefuls!
I'm just about 13 weeks and finally met my new doc last week. At my yearly exam last year I asked my old OB about her VBAC policy and she said "there are a lot of restrictions and you wouldn't qualify" with absolutely no explanation why. I believed I was a great candidate since my first birth was vaginal with no complications and my c/s was due to fetal distress and no maternal issues. Anyway, I got a recommendation for a new doc from my local ICAN chapter but was still afraid he'd tell me I wasn't a good candidate.
Meeting him put all my fears to rest. He told me I was an ideal candidate, that he always prefers a VBAC over a RCS, he has no deadline for when I have to go into labor as long as there are no complications and baby is doing fine, when I asked about uterine rupture he said that the risk of complications is higher with a rcs (which I had read but never heard anyone in the medical profession say) and he personally attends all his births and remains at the hospital for the whole labor / birth for his VBAC patients. He's an all around great doctor and I now understand why the women in our ICAN chapter were so adamant that he is well worth the drive (about 45 minutes away, which isn't really a lot but seems like it when there are at least 3 other hospitals on the way there).
Best of luck to everyone hoping for a vbac - and keep the positive stories coming!!
I'm in my 14th week and my next appointment at the birth center is in early November. I really love the care I am getting there. I have an anterior placenta which doesn't necessarily mean anything but I'd prefer not to. I hope I can still feel plenty of movement. We signed up for our Bradley classes and start in mid-December.
Oh and we told DD about the baby. Her reaction was absolutely heart warming and she is so excited!
GL to all of you that are so close to your guess dates :-)
here! moving along in second-tri. had to switch OBs with this pregnancy as they are the only group in my area who will allow VBAC. first 2 visits with the docs didn't do much for my confidence in them, but my 20 wk visit with the midwife gave me a boost. she let me know their success rate was 70% and clarified their "rules" for CFM. plus she didn't have her hand on the door knob through the whole visit (big change from the last visit with the doctor)
i also signed up for a bradley class that starts in 2 weeks, so looking forward to that too, hopefully can meet some other vbac hopefuls since the instructor says she works with them a lot.
My Wedding Bio!
We are currently ttc, in my 2ww, and I am very very crampy, so fingers crossed, I will hopefully soon start trying for my vbac.
On a happy note, my good friend gave birth to her baby today via csection. I am going to see them tomorrow. I hope my friend handles every thing well, I know she really didn't want a section, but that's because of me.
and her bf just got laid off, so she was hoping to be back to work in 3 weeks, and that isn't happening now.
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
I guess I'm new here. I've been checking this board since my c/s a year and a half ago, but never posted.
DH and I got our *somewhat* surprise BFP about a week and a half ago. We were hoping for a fall or winter baby this year or next year but apparently I'm destined to make summer babies. Only 6 weeks along but feel like time won't be on my side....
Looking for a new OB or midwife and hoping to see many encouraging stories!
Love the check-in post! 28 weeks and still planning/hoping for my VBAC. I scare myself out of it every once in awhile and have to re-talk myself back into it, I have done hours upon hours of research, reading VBAC birth stories and lots of thought and prayers about it. Baby is breech as of now, which I am not going to worry about until we get to the bitter end. My MIL (the OB nurse and very anti-VBAC) still feels the need to bring up the "c-section" date, which annoys the sh*t out of me, but I just let her get her 2 cents in before ignoring anything else that comes out of her mouth. I meet with my OB again on Friday and I am nervous because I am getting the feeling she is a lot less VABC friendly than I thought at the beginning.
So glad to have this board for support and encouragement though, I honestly don't think I'd be as excited or ready as I am getting for my VBAC without it! Can't wait for more success stories, they're my favorite posts to read, and I hope to post mine on here in a few short weeks!
Hi everyone!
I had my VBAC in April and I'm here to offer any support or advice that I can.
I don't think the board has been slower than usual. We are a niche board so we don't get a lot of posts but the amount has been pretty good I think. I'm very happy we have this board.
Good luck to all you VBAC hopefuls, my fingers are crossed for you!
My little VBACer just turned 3 months old, it's amazing how fast they grow!
My blog
I'm 11 weeks and met with my OB about 2 weeks ago. He had previously mentioned that I would be a good candidate for a VBAC. I was happy to hear that he is very supportive (although gave me all the risks and said if he were a woman who had an easy c-section with an easy recovery, that's the route he would go). He said he'd let me go 2 weeks past my due date and that he sometimes even uses pitocin, especially after the epi when progress slows.
The best part was that he didn't change my due date based on LO's size (which was measuring 4 days ahead) so I get a few more days towards that 42 weeks.
I had my son via VBAC almost 4 weeks ago. I like to lurk and offer support and advice still, though.

I post occasionally, even though I am not pregnant. I had my DS almost a year ago after 65 hours of labor (not induced), 2 hours of pushing and one non-emergent emergent c/s. I ultimately think the reason for the c/s was because he was posterior. I hope to VBAC when the time comes, but for now I am here to share information, stories, etc. with others.
Also, I am a little upset because the CNM who I wanted to VBAC with just gave up her hospital practice to solely focus on homebirth. This means that I will have to look elsewhere. Boo.
With my VBAC I was also super nervous to get checked, so I didn't have an internal exam until 40w appt I think LOL. I labored at home for at least a day before going into the hospital. I had a super long early phase (took 31 hours to get to 4.5-5cm), but then I was pushing within 2 more hours. Pushed for 13 mins and DS was out! GL to you and I"ll be looking for your updates!
We are still on cycle #1 for TTC #3. My chart is so wonky and out of control that I'm feeling too positive about anything... except that I *think* I might have actually ovulated! Time will tell, and I"ll be testing on Monday/Tuesday next week when AF is due.

I am almost 13 weeks, and planning a VBAC with this baby. I have learned so much from this board, and I'm so glad you ladies are here! I met my new midwife for the first time this week. It's amazing the difference from my old OB. She spent over an hour talking to me and answering all of my questions. My old doc was in and out after saying "everything's fine" or "looks ok" or some other crap. He never answered my questions, at least not very well, and did not alleviate alot of the fears that I had as a first time mom.
The sad news is that my new wonderful midwife that I just met is leaving the practice because she feels very restricted by the other dr in the practice. He's pretty much only open to VBAC's because she is there. She said she would recommend me to another very VBAC friendly practice in the area that also has midwives, if she does end up leaving. Sigh. I hope I have as good of an experience at this other practice. I want to give myself the best chance for a VBAC that I can!
I'm about 20 weeks now. I have a CPM/lay midwife and have very laid back appointments.
I had a rough week, but had a good morning at home alone! I saw the baby kicking for the first time today, it was pretty cool :-)
I had a VBAC last July and will be having another in March.
I'm 25 weeks along and just had a good appt. with my OB about a VBAC. She is really supportive and gave me all the facts. I did schedule a C-Section 10 days past my due date just in case I don't go into labor on my own.
