I am usually a lurker and I posted this on WM the other day but my 3 month old has been rejecting the bottle since 9 weeks. She used to take it like a champ approx. once a week since birth. She really really prefers the breast. I go back to work in 1 week
and need help. This are all the tactics I've tried: 1) I'm out of the house; 2) I'm in the house; 3) someone else feeds her; 4) I feed her; 5) try when she's hungry; 6) try when she's not hungry 7) change up nipples; 8) change position (different from nursing); 9) fresh milk; 10) frozen/thawed milk. My mom is coming next week for 3 weeks to help me ease back into work before DD goes to daycare.
I don't know what to do. I have a good supply so I've been using old frozen milk since it doesn't seem to make a difference. I guess she could reverse cycle but I'm hoping not b/c she STTN now and I have to go on a business trip in December for 5 days.
Any other tips would be great. Will she really just eat when starving? Would it be best to try her first morning feeding after not eating for 6-8 hours (on average) - that's the only thing I haven't tried.
Re: Help! Bottle Rejection
Sounds like you've tried a lot! I know it must be frustrating. The only thing that I can think of that weren't mentioned in your post is to try different temperatures. I know some babies like their milk very warm. Another thing is different bottle types. I've heard good things about the playtex drop-ins with latex nipples, because they're softer than silicone. That's all that I can think of, good luck!
