I take it out 20-30 minutes before. My mom does shots weekly and said having them cold will burn, but it could be her meds, which are obviously different.
I haven't been warming up the Gonal-f, and I haven't iced this cycle either (I did for IUI). It seems like there are just certain areas of my stomach that are more sensitive than others, so I am trying to use the ones that hurt less... even though that means they are getting more pokes it just seems better. Or I am just getting used to all the shots and just deal with it better. ;-P Between the 3 shots a day, the bloodwork has been daily the last few days, plus accu -- so many needles right now!!!
I don't have experience with Gonal-f, but as to my other drugs, we do let them sit out for a while so they're closer to room temp. Are you icing?!
Yes, I do ice. Some say it can cause absorption problems? But I don't care.
Last night was my first time with a pen and I was really panicky about it. Afraid I was going to mess it up, or have to poke more than once or something like that. Of course it was fine, but I got so worked up, I almost passed. out. Eesh.

We just started using a pen, too and it had me all freaky. Does the Gonal-F pen click when you're injecting? The Follistim pen does and it terrifies my poor dog. Every night she runs and hides behind a chair. So sad. She can tell when I'm getting ready to do the injections and she just runs away. I hate that
I hadn't heard about possible absorption problems with icing. I'll take my chances, too. I love me a block of ice at about 8 o'clock in the evenings :-) Have you tried injecting in your thighs? I find it less painful than the stomach, but everyone is so different.

I haven't tried thighs, but I think I will. I have plenty of thigh to work with.
Poor puppy! Yes, the clicking freaked me out at first. Luckily, my dogs aren't bothered. They keep bothering me when I'm trying to do an injection, though. You don't want puppy paws pushing your hand the wrong way when you have a needle in it!

I took Follistim, not Gonal-F. I did try to let my Follistim come to room temp when I took it for IUI, but I didn't for my IVF cycle, mostly because I had to take it in the morning for IVF and I never gave myself enough time to let it warm up before work. I did notice that it stung a little bit when it was straight from the fridge, but not enough for me to make the effort to take it out of the fridge early.

I haven't but I just started Gonal F last night. I honestly had no pain from it last night, but it was a bit more painful tonight. I didn't ice it either night.

Make sure the alcohol dries, that I know stings.
