My DH told me a lady he works with only charges $15 a day ($10 for a half day) to watch an infant. I thought this sounded incredibly inexpensive. What rate does your babysitter or daycare provider charge?
On a side note, when he first told me he knew someone that watched children, he said, " I think she only charges either $5 a week or $5 a day." I thought that was so funny, because I know daycare is typically a big portion of a person's income. Men can be so clueless sometimes...
Re: Average daily price for daycare?
That is cheap! My daycare lady is going to charge $25.00 per day for when we are working day shift and $30.00 per day while working swing and midnight shift.
my read shelf:
We are taking little one to a center that charges $35 a day. The in-home, certified providers we looked into were about $30 a day. I am not sure how much an unlicensed provider would cost in our area because we were not be comfortable with that option.
We are outside of Buffalo, NY.
I live in a metro area (not a highest cost of living area, but metro), and I'll be paying $180/week for a center-based day care. So your option sounds very inexpensive.
I have to LOL the $5/week - if only!!!!
I believe we will be paying $54 or $55 a day for the baby at the center my son goes to now. He is 3.5 y/o and when he started it was $49 a day for infants. Now for his age group it is $40.50/day.
I would think $150/week for in home, or $30/day would be very inexpensive around here, so $15/day seems incredibly cheap to me.
Toronto is expensive.
Approx. $50 a day for an unlicensed home daycare.
$12-1500 a month for a daycare centre.

Maybe post on a local board b/c as you can see prices range.
I pay $50 a day for one and will pay $85 a day for two. It's at a woman's home.
We pay $54 per day for DD at a center. This includes milk three times per day, two snacks, and lunch. Infants one and younger are $58 per day.
When we had her at a home provider, she only charged $40 per day, but did not include food, which was very annoying to have to pack food every day.

The one DH and I decided on is about $65/day, give or take.
Where I live it is common to pay about $35 a day for in-home care where someone is caring for their own children at the same time. Centers and higher end in-home places start around $50 per day.
We go to an in-home place, but it's set up like a center with it's own building/playground for the daycare and preschool activities etc. and the caregiver does not watch her own children. We pay $50 per day for part-time infant care and $45 per day for full-time care.
