Can't stop eating McDonald's!

This is my second baby, so I know the drill but I'm really having a hard time with the morning sickness this time. It's literally ALL DAY and the only thing I can stomach eating is McDonald's. The really bad stuff. I started off the weekend with an Egg McMuffin, hashbrown, oj combo. Then on Saturday I went a little nuts and wolfed down a Classic Chicken (the crispy kind) sandwich, fries and regular Coke. I NEVER touch regular Coke. I've been a die-hard diet drinker for over 10 years. I don't get this. I've always been very healthy. I usually keep raw almonds in my desk, nibble low-fat cheese sticks and drink 2 liters of water daily. And now? Can't stand the thought of any of it. All I want is fat, salt and Coke. I can't even look at a vegetable or piece of fruit. Today, I tried to be good and ate a banana this morning. It came right back up. Oh, but the McDonald's cheeseburger and fries I had later went down a treat. Huh? And did I mention the entire bag of salt and vinegar potato chips washed down with yet more coke followed by Chex Mix?

Poor kid. I feel like this is borderline child abuse feeding him/her all this crap. What the heck is going on with my body?

  • That's hilarious! The other day all I had for lunch was some celery, carrots and strawberry milk :S I think you just need to eat what you can and take a PNV to try and fill in the nutritional gaps. Hopefully you'll be able to eat more normally in the 2nd tri.

  • Haha. Reminds me of my pregnancy. I'm a normally very healthy eater, and alllllllll I wanted was microwave pizza. I swear my kid is made out of microwave pizza because it's practically all I ate for several weeks. Horrible, horrible, horrible... but it's what my body wanted. Pregnancy cravings are insane!

  • With my last pregnancy the only thing I craved was McDonald's cheeseburgers. It had to be McDonald's. Wendy's just wouldn't do. That and Chicken in a Biscuit crackers... Hmmm... that sounds pretty good right now actually....
    We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

    Currently tandem nursing dairy, egg, and shellfish free.
    DS born via emergency c/s after 20 hrs of labor. DD successful VBAC!

  • i craved french fried from mcdonalds all the time and fried chicken and i had a girl! This time it is salty 3 bean salad, quesadillas- anything salty!

  • Me too! I have been trying really hard to eat healthy for our baby but no all I ever really want is a quarter pounder with cheese or steak breakfast sandwhich. I dont get it I dont think there is anything really nourishing about them.

  • It's refreshing to see that this is happening to other mamas!  I've been feeling guilty when I eat the occasional "awful for you" McDonalds, especially because my friend who is a week ahead of me is the healthiest eater ever.  I've never been a McDonald's fan but I am now!  Bring on the double cheeseburger!  Gross!

  • I wanted quarter pounders with cheese like they were going out of style with my first pregnancy!  I craved them all day.  Definitely was NOT helpful in the weight gain department.

  • I had this crazy fear that I'd want nothing but beef products while pregnant (I'm a vegetarian) but luckily (?) all I keep craving is mac and cheese and potatoes au gratin.

    My biggest and poorest habit seems to be what I call my "hungry days" where I can eat a meal and still be hungry right after. I try to hold off eating again for at least an hour or so but a half hour later baby says "oh no, mama, you're eating that second breakfast NOW!" Who am I to argue with something the size of a lime?!??!! Nom nom nom nom nom...

  • It's funny. When I was on here when pg with DD a lot of people commented that McDonald's was the only thing they could keep down - especially the cheeseburgers. It was like McDonald's was the ms cure! At this point, your baby is taking nutrients from your stores, and being able to eat anything is good. I wouldn't worry too much. When you are feeling better in second and third tri, then you can focus on healthier eating. For now - eat what you can.

  • i apoligize to baby every time i eat it. i told my dr about my...problem.  he said it was just fine at this point. he said anything i can get down and keep down is better than nothing. 
    my favorite thing from there is the double cheeseburger with only ketchup and french fries with tarter sauce. i was eating it about 3x a week until i almost came thru the window last time i was there because they tried to give me big mac sauce instead of tarter. ive been sending hubby since then. i felt just awful as i was driving away but i was trying to justify it at the same time. haha
    ive tried subway for something more healthy but i get TERRIBLE gas pains from it that last for hours, sometimes overnight. 
    i cant wait for this nausea and vomiting to subside! come on second tri!
  • I'm not going to lie...I am jealous of you ladies that get to eat McDonald's!  I have been craving it like WHOA, but can't have it because I have celiac disease.  I would kill for a double cheeseburger and chicken nuggets and french fries RIGHT NOW!!!  Ahhhh!

  • Hilarious! This is totally me. One day last week, I was heading back to work from a doc's appointment at 10:15am. I camped out at McDonalds until 10:30 so I could shovel two cheeseburgers in my face before going to work! LOL I have been on such a cheeseburger binge my dad had a heart to heart with me about thinking about replacing MCD's with organic grass fed beef as a substitute. Not the same!! You ladies really made my day with this post...
  • During my first pregnancy I was like this during first tri. The more processed the more likely I could stomach it. If it makes you feel better the feeling is short lived and eventually you go back to being able to eat normal, healthy foods.

    I say if you can keep it down and it sounds good than eat it.

    I just got myself a salad and I am kind of blech. I should have gone for something a bit more appetizing...like mcdonalds lol.

  • Grumble. I just posted about how I wanted McDs. With G I had either McDs or Wendys after most of my Dr.s appointments. Mmmm salty goodness.

  • I know what you mean. I am so in love with the Bacon/egg/cheese combo. I almost wish I could have it for breakfast every morning as it is the one thing that makes me feel normal for about 2 hours.

  • I am the same way! This is my 2nd and the only thing I want and can keep down is McDonalds. I feel so bad that im eatting this way but i have not gained any weight yet. I am going on my 9th week and its getting a little better.

  • I love this thread....McDonald's addicts unit! Haha, that's the biggest craving I've had. It's seemed to simmer down a little after I've ate 3 breakfast combos, and a big mac (Not in the same day of course buahaha).  But Taco Bell is up there in cravings too, and I hadn't had that in over a year!
    I think part of why I am done eating all of it so often is because of the HORRIBLE gas I get from it! OMG disgusting. Ick!
