Baby still not rolling over!

My LO is 6 months old. She is almost 20 lbs, she isnt rolling over yet. All she will do is squirm all the way to one side if she is on her back- on her tummy forget it she lays flat with her arms out and cries. I try to encourage her to roll over but she cant do it on her own. Should I worry? What can this mean???? Anyone else?

Re: Baby still not rolling over!

  • Mine only goes belly to back. She has no interest in rolling the other way. I think she skipped that milestone and went straight to sitting up. She seems fine to me, but I will ask the ped at our 6 month apt.

  • K couldn't roll over on Friday night. By Sunday (6 1/2 months old) she was rolling all over our living room!

She's lucky too, her 6 month appointment is Wednesday and I was ready to get her a PT evaluation!

Do some tricks and Good Luck!

  • My DS was a late roller and then was walking by 10 months
  • DS is now sitting up on his own and STILL not rolling over.  We practice every day.

  • DS started rolling from belly to back like this week! He shows no indication that he will roll back to tummy, yet he's trying to sit up! I wouldn't worry. My LO seems behind most babies on milestones but his pedi said those are only a guideline to base it on doesn't mean it has to happen by a certain age.

    this exactly.

  • LO has rolled on accident from belly to back and in the past few days seems to have come really close to rolling back to belly, but also not intentionally. She just sort of watches someone walk across the room and when she follows them with her eyes she turns her body with. She has shown absolutely no inclination to roll over on purpose, but she seems just fine and when I help her sit up I can tell her muscles to do that are getting much stronger, so I'm not worrying yet. She's already 6 months actual, but we still have a bit until 6 months adjusted.

  • DS has rolled over a few times, all on accident I think. He hasn't shown any real desire to try it again. He is, however, trying to sit up. It's adorable; any time he's put at an incline you can see him straining and leaning forward, trying to sit. Yesterday during our playgroup he stood up for 10 straight minutes while I helped him balance. Point is, I don't think he's done it yet because he's not interested and is focusing on other things.
  • Noah is a rolling fool, but Elijah could not care less. He can roll from belly to back but rarely does it. He doesn't like being on his tummy so he's unmotivated to try to get there. He does like to sit up, though! He can mostly do it on his own.
