I just started CD'ing a few weeks ago. I read that barn smell means too little detergent and ammonia means too much, but how do you know if you have stink issues? When I take the diapers out of the wash they smell clean, so am I doing this right? I use the EFF's recipe for homemade detergent. i use 1 T for about 30-ish diapers (about 3 dayd worth?) By the third day the diaper pail doesn't smell great, but it doesn't smell horrible, either. Just a musky smell. Tips?
Re: How do I know if I have stink issues?
You'll know. Basically, if you put a clean diaper on the baby and start to smell ammonia or mildew after the 1st pee then you have stink issues.

When we first started CDing I would see all these posts about stink issues and wondered the same thing. Then we hit the 6 month mark and started solid foods and ammonia stink started creeping up and I finally knew what they were all talking about. Don't worry. If you have stink, you will definitly know!
