Has anyone donated cord blood after delivery in CT? It seems that this is not an easy process in this state, from the online research that I have done. I am not interested in banking for my own family, but was hoping to donate to a public bank or for research purposes. Thanks in advance!
From what I understand, you can only bank cord blood in CT through a private party, such as Cord Blood Registry or Viacord, which has fees associated with it. In order to donate to a public bank, you will need to look outside the state. I believe NY has this option available. Good luck with your decision. I'm sure it will be much appreciated!
We tried. Even out of state places. Couldn't find ANYONE to give the stuff to. Crazy. We wanted to donate it for research or a bank.. we didn't care. Instead it went to waste.

there are no public banks in CT and no out of state bank will take out of state donations, it can't cross state lines. You can bank it yourself using a private bank.
Our pediatrician told us that Yale New Haven Hospital offers a public bank. I haven't looked into it, as we plan on going through a private company, but it might be worth checking it out.
