Thrush question

I suspect I may have or may be developing thrush.. I sent a message to my Dr. and she sent in a prescription for diflucan but also said that some monistat derm (over the counter) on my nipples can help as well. My question is, if I do use that, do I need to clean my nipples before breastfeeding my LO? or is it okay to leave it on

    My guess would be to clean your nipples...not sure if you want LO to be consuming that stuff.

    My LC said that as long as it's been 30 min since I applied the monistat, it's ok to feed. If less, rinse with water. I've been using it for 3 days and it's really helping!!

    Your baby needs to be treated as well, even if its not visible in the mouth, you can keep passing it to eachother. Also wash EVERYTHING really well. I boiled my nursign pads, paci's etc in vinegar water! It cleared up quickly.
