Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Your Thoughts...Time for CIO?

DD will only sleep in our arms, in our bed, or while one of us is physically touching her. She's always been a little rest-less, but this refusal to sleep with-out us next to her is fairly new. She's not sick. She's not teething...no ear infection. For the past few nights we've changed her diaper, given her a bottle...and she's fine.. until the second you lay her down.

Part of it is our own fault.. when she first started this, we put her in bed with us for a few nights. Whoops.

Anyway...Is it time for CIO?  Any Method Recco's and success stories?

  • CIO works...I posted a little earlier today about my success with it.  Our DD was just like this and it worked after one night. I thought it was going to take forever.

  • I would say to go for it!  We had to try it over the last week...and each time she cryed a little shorter!  I actually had to walk outside the first night so I couldn't hear her and left DH inside with the monitor.  Finally, last night, she STTN!  Good Luck!!

  • I recommend Ferber, also.  Just FYI... there is book called "Bedtiming" that discusses the best and worst sleep training windows.  9 months is considered a bad time because separation anxiety tends to be an issue (just one theory but it makes sense to me) so if you're going to do it, you might want to do it now :)
