It still feels like summer here - without the colorful fruit - but I'm trying to bring autumn and Halloween into our lunches! PIP yours here! The colors of fall are so easy to find in food right now! And I promise, not one of these lunches took more than a few minutes to make.

My DH thinks I'm crazy, but I seriously enjoy making checkered apples. They're easy and somehow cathartic for me. DD always stands by my side and eats the teensy little apple peel scraps. For this fall-themed lunch, we have checkered apples, a triple-decker quesadilla, dried apricots, mini tomatoes and some cashews (which were declared "disgusting").

How to make plain old leftovers and other random fridge findings "cute" - put them in footed containers and add a kids dinosaur chopstick. Leftover spaghetti, snap peas, carrots with a bit of dip at the bottom, kiwi and a chopsticks (from Target $1 spot last year). The chopsticks are great fine motor practice, too.

I love this bento box! Carrots and kiwi plus a little piggie container with raisins in it, and on the right is tomatoes and leftover casserole separated by silicone lettuce. The box, pig pick and container are all from allthingsforsale.com.

Library's theme was bats, so that's what we had for lunch. We ate late, so I made it larger than usual, and she still ate everything. A homemade sealed sandwich with a bat cutout, tomatoes, string cheese, deviled egg, cookie and carrots. It's a honey mustard deviled egg - recipe from Pioneer Woman - and boy is it good! DD helped me make the eggs, which ensured that she'd at least taste it. Slowly but surely, she's overcoming her dislike of hardboiled eggs. I made the bat flag just by using a piece of purple tape on a toothpick and drawing on it in Sharpie. Why don't I do this more often? It's so easy and it's the first thing DD noticed!
PIP your cute lunches here! I promise, even the smallest touch make a difference!
Re: *Cute lunch check-in*
Very cute, as always!
I've been pretty slack lately, but I did make this for breakfast this morning. We watched The Little Mermaid last night, and this was a big hit.
same here. my dd is only 6 months, but i lurk over here every now and then and can't wait until i can do this for her!

Love!!
PB&J Pumpkin sammy - used one of my 101 cookie cutters from WalMart.
The eyes are cherry tomatoes, cut in 1/2, topped with a dab of ranch
The mouth and "moon" are apple slices.
The girls snack all day long, so lunches are usually a sammy and fruit/veg. They LOVE the cutout sammys!
The other one I've been making lately is a slice of cheese cut into a flower, green bean stem, grapes cut in 1/2 for the middle of the flower and as "bugs" around the plate, and graham crackers as the dirt. DD1 requests "scene" lunches and likes the food to make a picture so I do my best.
