Anyone work out of the home? What do you do?

I've been considering direct selling for extra cash.  I have a friend trying to get me into Stella & Dot, Pampered Chef and Pure Romance.  As much as I would love a regular break out of the house where I don't necessarily spend money but rather make it... I'm worried it might be more than I can handle.  I'm not sure about the initial investments.

Anyone do any direct selling out of your home?  I'm curious what other moms have found success doing.

  • Direct selling is what you make of it.  I do it part time, and if I worked harder at it I could be making more BUT I already have a full time job and 5 kids.  It's not easy money, but if you put your mind to it you can do it.  Hope that helps.

  • I tried direct selling (Partylite) but it wasn't for me. The thing I liked about Partylite was that there was no big start-up cost that all the others have. I had a starter party and earned my starter kit from sales at my party. But, it was tiring trying to get people to book parties, because you know most people don't want to be bothered, and frustrating to show up to a party where half the people didn't buy anything. I hear that food sales are easier, like Tastefully Simple, but I wouldn't do direct sales again. Too much work for not enough in return. The women I knew who were more successful at it, did nothing but eat, sleep, and breathe Partylite. I have too much going on in the rest of my life to be that devoted.

To answer your basic question, I have a dual position, marketing coordinator and office administrator, at my company.
