How long does a runny nose last?

My lo has had a runny nose for 7 days now... (along with an ear infection , but he is being treated with antibiotics) He is coughing a little from the mucus, but it just seems to be staying the same with the runny nose... Should it last this long? he is eating well at this point... I just feel like this is never ending and he is not himself... Any help would be appreciated... We have tried salt water drops, humidifier, suction nose, vapor rub, pretty much everything we can do... How long does a cold last?

No clue, all i can say is we are 9 days into this cold with the same symptoms and also antibiotics!

A runny nose is also a symptom of teething, says my doctor.

My pedi said 1-2 weeks.  It sucks!  We've done all of that stuff too.  The pedi said that we could try 4 mL of Benedryl for DD.  (She's 20 lbs.)  I don't know if it helped her nose, but it seemed to help her sleep.  She also said we could try one drop of Afrin in each nostril for up to 3 days, but no longer than that.  That is the only thing that really helps, but I feel bad giving it to her b/c it is so strong and she hates it.  Good luck!
