June 2011 Moms

are you using any kind of exersauser/jumper yet?

Can't remember if it's time to dust off his older brother's baby einstein activity center...

DS measured 24inches and 17lb at his 4mo appt. if size is a factor (big boy, I know ;)

Are you using any kind of exersauser yet? If so, what kind? When did you start?TIA!

Re: are you using any kind of exersauser/jumper yet?

  • We've put LO in his baby einstein thingy but he's not really interested in it yet. :/ I know that the instructions said you could use it once they were 15lbs.

  • I've spent the last 2 days looking at a zillion jumperoos and exersaucers on Amazon.  Can't make up my mind.  I was also planning on calling my pediatrician on Monday to see if either is preferred.  Are jumperoos ok for their legs--is the impact safe?

  • We bought the love you zoo one by fp. She loves it and does this shuffle jump thing that is freaking cute. Currently she had books under her cause she is short.

  • I just purchased the Rainforest Jumperoo by FP. DD loves it! She isn't jumping too much. Her feet don't quite touch the ground, but I put something under it to help her out, so she goes up and down a little (enough to make the music and lights go). She is very fascinated with all the toys on it.

As of her last appt (10 days ago) she was 14 lb 10 oz and 24 in).

  • we have an exersaucer and a jumperoo. he looooooves the exersaucer but isn't so into the jumperoo yet. he's a little short for the jumper yet so we put those foam abc mats under him - still not into it. but big thumbs up for the exersaucer!!

  • Yes we have been using the exersaucer for a few weeks now and DD just loves it.

Pedi said it is perfectly fine to use. The question I had about it was that we had her in it where she could stand flat footed even tho the directions said to make it so only their toes touched. Pedi said it was fine to have her flat footed and said in her opinion it is better to have them flat footed.

  • We have the FP Rainforest jumperoo and over the past 2 days it's really becoming one of his favorite things to do. He had his last appt on Thursday and he's 17.5 pounds, 26 inches long.

I ordered this one today for DD! She goes in one at her daycare and loves it. I can't wait for it to arrive!

  • Kenley has a jumperoo from fisherprice called Precious Planet and also an activity center. She doesn't like the activity center at all because she gets bored real fast but she loves the jumperoo!! We initially bought it for her in hopes that it would help with her pooping issue, that and her trying to bounce on our stomachs was just not working for us anymore as she was getting bigger. We bought it for her a couple of weeks ago. She is 3 months and weighs 11.15 and is 22 inches. We have a box where her feet would touch the ground because she's not quite tall enough to reach the ground just yet.

Here is a video of her using the jumperoo:

  • We just bought this exersaucer for DS today and he seems to really like it! I have to put a pillow under his feet though because he can't quite reach to the bottom yet. I was going to wait and get him something like this for Christmas, but I figured if we waited that long, he wouldn't be in it very long. I'm all about getting my money's worth since these babies seem to be growing so freaking fast!!!
  • Yes, we started about 2 or 3 weeks ago.  He's really starting to get the hang of it, and enjoy it more now.  We have the EvenFlo 3 stage exersaucer.

  • HECK YES. It is a daily "exercise" for Xander, at least twice a day for 10-30minutes. He LOVES it.

This was taken about a month ago, when he JUST three days after he turned 3 months. https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10100199183686346

And as long as he can see me (if I am in the kitchen etc, or in the same room) he is fine. If I am gone too long (bathroom break!) he starts to whine. Otherwise, he LOVES it!! I cannot say enough good things about this. Ours is a Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo. I did have to add some canvases under his feet as he was too short. Now I have taken everything away except for one canvas. My Doctor said it was perfectly fine, and that getting "bow" legs etc is old myth and that this is great way to get them to strengthen their muscles. As long as your child can hold up their heads without help, then HAVE FUN!

  • Yup, our doctor asked specifically if we were using it yet.  We bought the Evenflo ExerSaucer Triple Fun Jungle Active Learning Center. He is 26.5 inches so he's not flat footed on the lowest setting yet, but he's starting to realize now that he can stand up a little bit in it.  He can't stay in it too long yet, but he seems to be enjoying it so far.  It's good because it's one way to entertain him without putting him on his back.

  • Yup, we're using the Baby Einstein activity center and the FP Rainforest jumperoo. We have to put books under her feet on the jumperoo because she's too short still...but she LOVES both!

  • We also have the FP rainforest one - DS loves it!  It made me smile that other people are having the same issue with feet not touching the ground.  We have a small chair cushion covered with a blanket.  :)
