I'm toying with idea of getting this for Jake for xmas, but IDK if it's worth it. I'm getting really pissed with this stupid Explorer. The Connect program is giving me issues and I want to drop kick it. Yes, I realize I'll have to use it with the LeapPad, but the LP looks more fun and has the camera built in.
So, what says the nest about this toy?
Re: Have ya'll discussed the new LeapPad?
found it:
...the leap pad is pretty cool. It's a $99 touch screen, and it works as a tablet, e-reader, takes pics and videos, and you can track your kid's use and progress online.
The apps/games are about $15-20 online, but it also uses the same cartridges as the leapster explorer (if you have one of those). PAC loves it. It's pretty sturdy, too. The only issue I have is the batteries die quickly--it's AA, not rechargeable.
I think Vtech has one that costs a little less, but when we did the comparison we liked the leap pad better. the vtech i think has fewer games available and doesn't have a camera.thanks girls!
I agree CJ, seems like something better comes out every year, but this is just so cool! LOL Maybe it's because I want a tablet...hm.
I'm still on the fence since he plays his leapster so much right now, I don't know that he needs something else. But then the other part of me thinks it'd be nice since it has a bigger screen. UGH. IDK still.
Happ- We bought 2 sets of rechargeable batteries for the explorer. So as soon as one set dies we put them on the charger and put the back up batteries in. We've been using them almost 1 year and they still work great and last a good amount of time (weeks or so, depending on use).
