Middle names that start with "J" (female)

First name Adeline.

I want her to be AJ.  Adeline is DH's grandmother's name.  I'm trying to think of MN with family significance that starts with a J and I'm coming up with nothing.

The frontrunner right now is Jean.  But that's my aunt's MN and this kid would not be named after my aunt, but she would think she was and would always talk about it.

My MN is Jo and that is a possibility, but my sister already said she'd want to use it if she ever had a daughter.  Again, not a dealbreaker, but if I can think of something awesome, I'd rather avoid that conversation.

Not:  Jane, June

Prefer old timey names.

  • The first thing I thought of when I read your title was "Jean". I think of these three sisters I knew who I thought were old as dirt when I was a kid (they're probably in their 70's now) when I think old timey names. Their names were Jean, Janet and Joyce.

  • I like the idea of using Jo.  So what if your sister wants to use it.  My nephew, James was born six months before DS.  We never hesitated using James as a middle name for DS.  The family significance was important to me and I like that they have that in common.  Also my SIL's share the same middle name, the same as their mother's.
  • Jade is pretty too.

  • I agree with PP that you should use Jo, even if your sister wants to use it...she may never even have a daughter, and then you'd regret not using it. I think Adeline Jo sounds pretty.

  • I'm biased for Julie (my mn). Which was my dad's maternal grandmother's middle name (Edna Julie).

  • I like Adeline Jo. It's your middle name - you have first dibs! lol. Plus I don't think it's a big deal if you're just using it as a mn.

I wholeheartedly agree. What if your sister never has a daughter? Adeline Jo is super cute, and she's not going to go by Jo anyway...

  • First of all, Adeline is an ADORABLE name.

I know its not old timey, but I kinda think my name (Janae) would be cute as a middle name. OH WOW I feel like a jerk for even suggesting my own name...

But my old neighbor named her daughter Alyssa Janae and I thought that went together nicely. Just throwing it out there :)

I'm no help, I loooove the MN James for a girl.

If it had family meaning, this would be a great one!  But, no James's in my fam.

  • If this baby is a girl her mn will be Jean. So that gets my vote :)

This! My DD has the same middle name as my SIL middle child! Jean, and we didn't even think about that when we named her.  My neice really thinks its cool that they share the same middle name!
