Black Poo?

For the past 3-4 days DS's poo has been really dark green/black. He doesn't seem bothered in any way by it. Normal or no? I planned on waiting it out before deciding to call the pedi, but our pedi is totally unavailable on the weekends (if we have any sort of problem Saturday or Sunday we're supposed to take DS straight to the ER, which I definitely don't think is warranted in this case) so I'm wondering if I should call just to be safe. WWYD?

I'd call to be safe. They very well may be able to tell what's going on over the phone. I had the same problem a few months ago and I found out it was because my poor nipples were cracked and bleeding and his poop was just dark and tar like because of the digested blood (awesome!)

What has he been eating or has he been taking any supplements/formula like iron?  That would be my first question.

They sure do. Black poo and bright red spit-up! Scary-looking but not actually scary at both ends.

Yes, it's the scariest looking poop, especially when you don't know or forget you fed them blueberries

 

I'll agree that the black blueberry poop is scary.  But it's nowhere as scary as BEET poop!  Looks like a bunch of blood.
