Probiotics after Antibiotic? Does anyone give to baby?

My son has to be on an antibiotic for 10 days.. his poo is smelly and lots... I was wondering if anyone gives their baby a probiotic?  Are they safe and are they useful... ? If so, what do you recommend? thanks

I've never given him probiotic drops, but I buy the rice cereal and oatmeal with probiotic in them (I was paranoid about constipation when we started solids).  He has never been constipated, but I have no idea if the probiotics can be credited for that or not. Also, he's never been on antibiotics. Sorry, not very helpful!

I would at the very least give him some yogurt every day.  The only time Isaac was on antibioitics was for Group B Strep, but he had pretty horrible diarrhea.  He was only 5 weeks old at the time, so I couldn't give him yogurt obviously, but I think it might help a little.

I haven't had to give DS any antibiotics yet, but yes, I would be giving probiotics if I were in that situation.

I gave DS biogaia liquid probiotics. They were hard to find, but worth it. I had been on antibiotics from the day before he was born, (my water had been broken for an extended period of time) until he was about 5 weeks old. (Bladder infection, mastitis, etc.) and they really really hurt his tummy. The probiotics seemed to help.
