Write a birth plan. Realize that L&D probably won't go perfectlyi according to plan, and (like in my case) it may get completely thrown out the window, but do one anyway.
Writing a birth plan, for me anyway, brought up numerous questions about what we wanted for L&D, Recovery, and contingency plans that I hadn't thought of before I started the plan.
Begin talking to YH / SO about childcare - not only long term, but for the immediate post-partum period.
Long term (ie. after I return to work) we had all figured out. But for the immediate post-partum period, we're on completely different wavelengths. I asssumed that on his days off he would take on some of the baby duties, including at least one night feeding, so I could get more than 3 hours of sleep in a row. He assumed that until I return to work, I'll do the vast majority of baby duties, even when he's home, including all of the nighttime feedings. We're still working it out...
