Is anyone creative? Need ideas!

I need an idea for work. Every year the school I work at has a vocabulary parade to celebrate halloween. Each student has a word and they dress up as that word. Such as my word this year is "hypochondriac" and I'm dressing up in a hospital gown, with bandages, a themometer etc.

I am the OT in a class of 12 kids who are grades k-2 in a specal ed curriculum. Last year they were "mixed fruit" and each dressed up as a different fruit. I'm stumped this year. We like to do a theme as a class and each student then has a word that falls under that theme. We did "rainbow" a couple of years ago as the theme and each child had a color they dressed up as. We also did "movement" one year and each student dressed up as a movement word.

So, can anyone help me out with a theme and words? I'm struggling this year. Next week we need to have the kids start working on their costumes and I have no clue to what those will be:(

  • Opps, nevermind, I didn't read your theme very well.  It needs to be a vocabulary parade.

How about super healers?  Like super heros who heal?  You can have Captain Hugs, BandAid bandit, Crimson Cast?  Or Safety savers, where they dress as things to prevent injuries?  Like a an orange cone, a wet floor sign, a fire safety sign, do not cross tape, a seat belt...

This is a fabulous idea. Most are boys and love superheros! Thankyou...

  • I just asked the kids if they wanted to be the superhealers? They got so excited! The ideas started to pour out of them. They were very engaged in writing out what they wanted to do, drawing a picture of what their costumes would look like and what their super hero would be. It was an awesome learning experience for them that they will have fun with I think. Several of these kids don't get a chance to get excited about holidays, any holidays, so this was so nice to see them this happy about doing something.Thank you for the idea!
