Meats

So im going to be starting meats soon and if you make your own, how do you do it?

Buy fresh, cook, puree, then freeze? Make it when you need it? (no freezing) Do you mix it with anything?

Does it freeze well? I cant imagine pureed meat bleh

Re: Meats

  • I just pureed some meat the other night.  I steamed it with peas & sweet potatoes.  then put it in the food precessor & used formula as the liquid.  It actually came out smoother than what I expected but maybe the veggies helped with that.  I plan on feeding that to my LO over the weekend.

Did you freeze it? I know you only use a small amount, but I wasn't sure what would happen because you're not supposed to freeze formula.

  • I haven't gotten to meats yet, but I remember reading that you can also use broth to thin out the mixture. You can either make a little of your own or use a low-sodium broth.

I made a small batch but didn't freeze it.  I plan on feeding it tonight, but you're rightr...you aren't supposed to freeze formula.  Hence why I made a small batch just to test it out.Wink

  • I bought fresh chicken (light and dark meat) and boiled it.  Then I pureed it (it needed a lot of water) and froze it. I reheat it for her.  I've tasted it, and it doesn't taste bad.  The texture is what is off putting, but the flavor itself is... chicken!
