Cloth Diapering

Charlie Banana Diapers Not Absorbing

Does anyone have Charlie Banana Diapers?

I purchased some on the Zulily sale this summer, and used them for 8 weeks before they stopped absorbing completely. All of the stripping methods are NOT working for me - and believe me, I think I've just about tried everything. I've been going around & around with their publicist about what to do with them, but she doesn't have any concrete answers except to continue washing them.

I'm currently stuck with 18 non-absorbing diapers and am having HUGE buyer's remorse. I don't know what else to do....

Anyone else out there in the same boat?

Thanks for any advice,
Aletha

Re: Charlie Banana Diapers Not Absorbing

  • Yep. I bought two sets. I cant tell if its because they are a bit big on my LO still (shes just over 10 pounds) or what. The seem to leak/ wick at the legs.  I think it may be the way the fleece meets the edge of the cover, not sure. I also suspected they were leaking fro the stitching in the same area. I only use them at home now, and change frequently.

  • After almost a year, ours are still doing great. I did switch to hemp after about 4.5 months for added absorbency but out of all my MF inserts, I like the CB the best as far as absorbency.

I wonder if you are washing or drying on a setting that is too hot:

    Microfiber Terry:

This fabric works by trapping moisture in between loops in it's pile.  As the fabric ages, the pile degrades and therefor absorbency diminishes.  To keep you microfiber terry inserts in good shape, tumble dry on cool heat -- hotter settings will flatten the pile and degrade performance.

Hope you are able to figure out a solution soon!

  • As far as sizing goes - I didn't start him until he was well over 15lbs, so I didn't have that issue. It just leaks out the sides because it's not absorbing one bit.

As far as washing goes - I've been following their directions on their website...but it looks like I may need to switch to hemp - great idea! Thanks for sharing.

I have a CD-ing friend giving them a whirl for me. I am hoping she can figure it out, but otherwise it looks like I'm up a creek with no paddle. SO annoyed!

Thanks again, ladies! I appreciate your replies.
