Parenting after a Loss

talk me through the 4m wakeful...

DD has decided that daytime naps lasting more than 10mins are beneath her.

Which sucks for me. I live for daytime naps lasting more than 10mins.

How long will this last for until she realizes the awesomeness of a 60+min nap? Somehow, she is managing to survive on 6-8 hours of sleep (total of the course of 24 hours).

  • I think we only just recovered from this... sorry. But, A got sick at 5.5mo, which didn't help her sleep at all.  Then 6mo shots, then teething, flu shot, teething.  Yeah.  But now sometimes it's okay Smile  Good luck.

  • This too shall pass.  This too shall pass.  :)

Will she sleep in a swing, or in the car, stroller, in a Moby, on you? At this age, find whatever works and get as much sleep as you can.

    Good luck!!

  • I don't know if it will work for you, but I had an "aha" moment around that age that she wasn't actually done sleeping at the 10 min mark.  I went back in a rocked her and 9 times out of 10 she fell back asleep.  I read that if they get shorter than a 20 min nap they aren't really getting into their full sleep cycle.

So maybe try getting her back to sleep after the 10 min mark, and see what happens?

  • My LO agrees. Naps are for quitters. I thought I had the least sleeping baby in the world. She'll nap on me for maybe an hour, but her eyes are spring loaded if I try to put her down. I pick her up, try to get her back out again, and after trying for a while she either wakes again when I out her down, or decides that was enough and she's up to play.

  • This was when we sleep trained. And at around 3.5 months, DS started taking his naps at home in his swing.
