stretch marks/maternity photos

If you have some BAD stretch marks, and were planning on having a maternity photo session done, are you still going to do it?  I was looking up photographers near me and then I thought, wait...  My belly might be perfectly round but it is now full of stretch marks and belly hair.  And they do BARE belly shots, right?  Yeesh.  Isn't airbrushing expensive?

Re: stretch marks/maternity photos

  • I was one of the unlucky ones who got stretch marks early on despite all of my efforts to avoid them...my skin wasn't even tight yet when I started getting them. I'm not going to let that keep me from saving memories though. I'm totally going to have a maternity session with my husband. I don't think it's necessary to do bare belly maternity shots...I can wear a tighter fitting top and it would be just as beautiful as bare belly. If I do chose to go bare, I plan to have my husband's hands positioned to where you can't see them. I won't be having any photos from the front as that's where yuou can see them the most. I think as long as I can get my photographer to take them from the side, it'll be fine. I'm not concerned.

  • I don't plan on having bare belly shots taken.  I don't have stretch marks, but I just don't like the bare belly photos.

  • I'm 99% sure the photography would photo shop them out.

  • Any decent photographer should be able to easily remove stretch marks as part of normal editing procedure. It's possible that they may charge a little more for this process but with the ease of digital editing it shouldn't be too expensive.

this. i am a photographer and remove them all of the time. i cant speak for other photographers, but in my case the retouching is included in my regular prices. talk to potential photographers and see what they say, you might be pleasantly  surprised! :)

  • I agree with the others, photoshopping stretch marks out should be part of the process for any photographer, I know mine does it, but bare belly shots are not necessary, but I do think they're nice and will like looking back at them later.

  • I don't plan to do bare belly shots, but if I did I know the photographer would photoshop them out.  Heck it is even pretty easy to do with free software like Picasa.

  • Thank you.  I was looking online and saw some pics of ladies who did NOT look photoshopped and it scared me, for me.
