TTC After a Loss

*~*~Ladies Waiting for HCG to Drop~*~*

This is a weekly post open to any and all ladies who are waiting for their HCG to drop after a loss.

Hello ladies! I hope every one is doing good this week. There were so many new ladies last week. I?m so sorry that you are on this hard journey, but I?m glad you found us. ((Hugs)) all around.

*********************************************

This is a weekly post where we can keep up with each others? HCG levels, and support each other while we suffer through this waiting process. (Not to mention have some comparison points for what to expect on the journey.)

To participate, please introduce yourself with your type of loss, loss date if possible, peak HCG with date, and most recent HCG or HPT result with date. Feel free to add anything else you?d like us to know! Below is a list of the ladies from last week, with their status listed. If I made any mistakes, please let me know.
Keep us updated on your progress! We?re rooting for you!

Re: *~*~Ladies Waiting for HCG to Drop~*~*

  • I am new to waiting for my HCG to drop. I had my last beta a week ago and it was 35,000. I had my D&C last Friday, so I am guessing it is significantly lower today. My OB does not follow it down so I will POAS once a week until a BFN.

  • Hi ladies! I hope everyone is having a good day. I just received a call from my OB's office letting me know that my b/w from last week came back "positive". I asked if they had the actual number, but she said they ran it as a qualitative test rather than a quantitative. Therefore, I will be making another wonderful, fun-filled trip to the lab tomorrow. I am so ready for this to be over. I feel like I can't move forward until my betas are 0. Anyone else frustrated and/or feel like this?

Welcome to the group. I hope the D&C helps you to drop quickly. GL with the HPT's. Have you tried one yet or are you waiting until Friday?

I'm sorry you're still positive. That's odd that they ran the test as qualitative rather than a quant. At that point you might as well just be taking HPT's rather than b/w. I'd ask your doc to order a quant tomorrow. How else are they supossed to know if you're dropping or not?

I'm sorry you're feeling so frusterated. There were many times I felt just the same way while waiting for my HCG to drop. The going was so slow and I truly felt I'd never get there. It was a huge lesson in patience for me. The quote in my siggy really helped me get through the waiting. "Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow, that is patience." ((Big Hugs))

  • I'm new to the board this week.  All of these acronyms are new to me and I'm still learning a lot, so bear with me...

I had a natural m/c and completed most of the tissue loss last Saturday.  My first b/w was yesterday and it was at 348.  I asked the nurse if that was good or bad and she said it was "nice and low" but I have to go back for another blood test in a week.

I never thought about POAS.  What is the lowest # they usually detect?

Thanks for the encouragement! I love that quote. I have no idea why they ran it as qual rather than quant. All of my other tests have been quant. Maybe someone just input the order incorrectly? I will check the order tomorrow when I go in to see which one was ordered this time. I contemplated using HPTs, at least to know if I'm under the 25 or not. I think I'm just frustrated because my levels were never high like a lot of ladies here, so I thought they would drop faster. DH kinda joked the other day that the baby was, "hanging on for dear life.....but in the wrong spot". I just looked at him and said, "must have been a boy and didn't bother asking for directions". Stick out tongue   How are you holding up with everything?

Welcome to the group. Your acronym usage is great! Smile There is an acronym list in our TTCAL blog (link's in my siggy) that I found very helpful when I first joined the board. 348 is a good low starting point. A lot of ladies who's doctor isn't following them down with b/w like to do the HPT's. I think the digitals will pick up 40-50 HCG and the wondof brand (internet cheapies) will pick up 20. There have actually been a few ladies on here who have gotten positive wondof's with less than 15. Good to know when we're waiting for BFP's again! There is a list of HPT types and what they'll pick up in the blog.

  • Follow up appt went great.  Got cleared to start trying.  I'm still using OPKs, I just can't see a "not pregnant."  My OPK this week was negative though, so I think that means the hormone is way down.  My emotions are also much more in check this week, so I think the hormones are returning to normal.  I'm checking now for ovulation and waiting on AF!

You're right, it might have just been an error. Hopefully they'll get it right for you tomorrow. I used to do the HPT's in between b/w. Seeing the lines getting lighter every week made me feel like I was actually getting some where. That's cute what you said to your DH. Silly boys! Smile.

Things with me have been busy. We're getting into testing now and it seems like every couple days I'm either talking to my doc, going to the office, or getting b/w done. I'm really happy that we're moving forward with all of this, though. The way I see it, is that all this running around is just getting me one step closer to a take home baby.

  • I'm still hanging in.  At the rate my levels were going down I'm sure I'm not a zero yet, but I won't have another blood draw for 3 weeks.

I did get AF last week, although it was very light and started and stopped a couple times.  But I really do think I ovulated last cycle even though my hcg wasn't a zero yet.  I missed a lot of temps, but I had a thermal shift at some point as well as all the other O signs.

  • Hi Everyone.  I would like to join if you will have me.  My pregnancy was diagnosed as ectopic last Wednesday, 10/12, and my HCG was at 875.  I was treated with Methotrexate and am awaiting for my levels to get back to 0.  Sunday's draw came back at 2240 (eek) and Wednesday's was 1900.  I go back on Wednesday for another draw and see my doctor on Thursday.  I have an appointment with a fertility clinic on 11/14, but need my level to be at 0 or will have to reschedule.
    3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets

I am actually going to wait until next week Friday to test. I figured if I tested today it would be positive for sure, so I am going to give my body a little extra time.

  • I've POAS a couple of times since last week's check in. They are significantly lighter & take a few seconds to be positive. Before I found out everything was still in there, the test line was almost black immediately & the control line behind it took a second to appear. Clearly, its a step in the right direction that at least the control line shows first now :P

Oh, & I'm not using FMU yet. Maybe when I get a negative with a random urine sample, I'll start FMU but for now I'd rather not start my day out like that lol.

    Love the quote, btw!

Oh, & I'm not using FMU yet. Maybe when I get a negative with a random urine sample, I'll start FMU but for now I'd rather not start my day out like that lol.

    Love the quote, btw!

That's great that your lines are getting lighter! I would definitely take that as a step in the right direction. I don't blame you for not using FMU. What a bad reminder that would be first thing in the morning. I hope they start getting supper light for you soon!

  • My symptoms have almost diminished.  Yay!  Also, my HCG levels have gone down all the way.  I took an HPT the other day and got a negative.  Woohoo!  Now just waiting for AF to show up.  I've been having some symptoms of it but nothing yet.

Yay for a negative HPT! Woo hoo! I'm glad your symptoms have pretty much gone away, too. I hope AF gets there soon. Yay for moving on!
