I think ds and I both have a bug. I thought mine was from antibiotics but since he has it too, I guess we both have a bug.
He's been drinking fluids just fine (he doesnt eat too much solids due to reflux).
But they poop is like straight water. Like I could have poured it in a cup. Its terrible. (sorry for the gross picture there).
Do we try bananas? applesauce? We dont give pedialyte this young do we?
Im not sure if my doc's office has an after hour nurse (were new).
p.s. can I use my kids desitin? OMG I'm dying!!! lol.....
Re: ok not teething. what to do for diarrhea?
As long as he's still taking fluids, I don't think the Pedialyte is necessary.
I'd try the BRAT. Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast.
I agree with PP. Avoid peas & pears.
https://www.askdrsears.com/topics/skin-care/diarrhea This has some good info.
Just went through this last week.... the BRAT diet for sure. She probably had Beech Nut's Mixed Cereal & Apples for every solid meal we attempted.
We actually did give some Pedialyte because DD is a very light eater normally (it's a struggle to get 20 oz of formula in to her in a given day), so she was taking maybe 14-15 oz tops when she wasn't feeling well. We just did 2 oz. of Pedialyte every few hours or so. She was over the diarrhea in about 3-4 days.
We did this a couple of weeks ago, too! It stinks. I did end up giving him some Pedialyte by syringe. He wouldn't take ANYTHING liquid by mouth. My pedi said avoid sugars (after I let him suck on a tube ice popsicle...oops). I did feed him baby applesauce, bananas, and a bit of oatmeal. I went back to the stage 1 foods so it was smoother texture. He didn't eat much or take much formula for a couple of days (I think he took 10 oz despite our best efforts).
His was like green water, too, it was horrible! I tried to let him dry for a couple of minutes after each diaper (and yes, he pooped on me once) and just keep pushing the fluids. Not much you can do until it passes. His bum was also bleeding so I kept unpetroleum jelly on it once he was dry.
ETA: I'm sure you could use the Desitin, too, LOL. Do you have some Tucks pads? You could spray some witch hazel on TP and sit for a minute. I'm sure baby wipes might help too.
