My goodness. Words cannot express the utter 'effing joy I feel that baby S was able to make a smooth transition from swing to crib. Finally. She has had bad reflux since she was born so we had been putting her in her papasan swing (without the swinging) for sleep. Her reflux has improved so it was definitely time to make the switch. The only way I was able to make this transition happen was because of the "Guardian Sleeper".
It's awesome. It was suggested to me by a mama on the 6-9 board and it's an amazing difference from just trying to get her into the crib without it. She rolls over and can't roll back, so it's her pitching a fit every time she rolls over which was all the time, me coming to turn her over and her not being able to go back to sleep. At all. Rinse and repeat.
With this sleeper, she barely fussed and went down right away. Two rounds of the FP seahorse and she was out cold. Both for nap this afternoon and tonight at bedtime.
I feel so great. What a relief. I was really starting to feel shame over having my DD still sleep in a swing (albeit a large swing), at six-months of age.
For anyone with difficulty making the switch. I highly recommend. Best $40 I've spent in a really long time.![]()
Re: Finally! Successful transition from swing to crib sleeping...
Can you tell me more about this miracle product? There are no great pictures on the site- what is it exactly? Which one did you order- are the sizes just based on the childs' size?
I'm thinking I may have to give it a try- P was ok sleeping in his crib for naps (RNP at night) until he became a rolling pin and learned to sit up. Now he thinks the crib is a playpen and does friggin gymnastics in there till he gets stuck in an awkward position and then screams for me. I gave up.
Hey there - I hear you! Listen, we do what we got to do to get our kids to sleep, right? My DD is wakeful in general which made it even more challenging.
So essentially, this is a blanket that wraps around one end of your crib. You place your LO through the opening, make sure his legs are between this separator harness that prevents him from slipping down under the blanket and then there are these two velcro straps that velcro him in place around his chest. This way, he can't slip down or up or turn over in either direction. Sounds weird as I write this but DD is very comfy and warm in it. And stationary! Genius.
You order by your LO's length. There's a place on the site under "sizing" that will give you measurements so you can choose the right size. I ordered large because DD is on the longer side and I ordered the fleece one.
I washed it when I got it and then today I just slipped it on the crib, easey, peasey. I kept bedtime routine same as always, stayed with her stroking her head while she moved around and felt it out. And then, she fell right to sleep.
As a helpful hint, today at nap time, I let her get a little extra tired (more activity), so that she'd be really tired when I put her down in it for the first time.
I can't believe it was so easy. This was a child who would instantly freak out and start crying every single time I tried to place her in her crib. So worth it.
Do it!

Ugh, my DS is still napping in the swing. We tried to ST him a couple weeks ago and it worked for night, but not naps. I couldn't take the crying and put him back in the swing. He won't sleep usually unless it's swinging, which makes me feel even worse about it. He's big, and IMO it's silly for him to sleep in the swing.
His issue isn't rolling over, but I wonder if this sleeper thing would still help, just b/c it keeps them still/swaddled. He kicks his feet when he's upset. Does this stop them from kicking? Maybe if his legs were swaddled he'd feel better.
I'd love it if I could get him happily napping in his crib w/out much crying
Hey janjag - The blanket wraps around one edge of the crib, so baby can still kick but not too high since there's not much room in there to kick very high.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I would get it if I were you but it is $40 for something that may or may not work. I was desperate to try anything at this point!
If you do get it, let me know how it works out...
