Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Waking up at 2 am all of the sudden??

DD has been sleeping through the night for about 2 months, and all of the sudden the last 2 weeks she has been waking up at 2 am almost on the dot EVERY NIGHT!!!  She doesn't want to eat (we tired).  Sometimes I rock her and she will fall right back to sleep, then as soon as I lay her down she wakes back up and starts crying again.  Last night I tried to let her CIO, but she just stands at the end of her crib crying, so I have to go back in and lay her down.  Does anyone else's little one do this?  What do you do to break this habit?  Thanks!

  • OMG!  I saw the title of this post and thought - does she have my DD!?!

Seriously though, for DD it's been 1 am - but it's been for almost 2 weeks now also.  It's ROUGH.  We are up anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours before she'll fall back asleep.  I'm wondering if she's on the verge of a big milestone...is your LO getting close to anything big (maybe taking steps!?!)  We are getting close to this here.

Wish I could help - hoping someone else has some suggestions!  Been wondering where my good sleeper went.

  • Seems my LO is doing the same thing, all around the same time he is pulling this separation anxiety thing.  Most of the time mine goes back to sleep when I give him a bottle but I have never had to do that before.

  • so crazy my LO has been doing the same thing for the past 2 weeks and he had slept through the night since he was 6 weeks old and now suddenly he will wake up 1-3 times during the night. Same exact thing we will get him back to sleep and no sooner put him in his crib and he is crying at the end of the crib wanting us. It has been so stressful trying to figure out what will work!

  • I'm with u guys too!! It's been about 3 weeks for us. I finally broke down and called the pedi today and they think it may be separation anxiety. They recommended sleep training. Not sure how I want to approach it, but momma needs some major sleep at this point! I've been a SAHM, but I start a new job in 2 weeksConfused So we need to work out SOMETHING here. Hope someone has some advise.

Are there books on sleep training? I think my LO is having separation anxiety also.

  • My LO has been sleeping almost the same schedule she was when she first came home from the hospital. I feel your pain. I'm going to blame teething, but it's driving me crazy. Most nights she's only waking up once, but some nights it's been as many as 5. I hate seeing her in pain. I am very much looking forward to her sleeping through the night again.
