D.C. Area Babies

*C-Charm*

I remember seeing you post somewhere that you did baby-led weaning.

I tried to talk to our pediatrician about this yesterday at our 4 month appointment, since we want to start this when she is six months, and I was floored that the doctor and the nurse had never heard of this.  She actually told me it was impossible since my daughter doesn't have teeth.

I've done some research, and I'm pretty certain that this is what I want to do, but I'm not sure how to balance the iron?  Did you do BLW and then also give cereal with the iron?  Or do a supplement?  Or just give LO meat (this is one of the last I'd planned to try, but I'm open to it).

Pediatrician couldn't give me any advice, she was too busy lecturing me, and so I'm starting from scratch today trying to read everything I can.

Thanks for your help :)

  • Check out the wholesomebabyfood.com website for an intro.  They also have other links.  We have inadvertantly done BLW with DD2 because she had zero interest in solids until she was 10-11 months old (she was EBF).  Now she gets both food I can feed her and food she self feeds.  She had a really hard time understanding how to move her tongue properly and with the concept of putting food in her mouth, so we had to help by spoon feeding otherwise she never would have eaten.
