How often does your baby poop??

Lovely topic, I know. 

Henry is BF and started solids at 6 months.  It's been 9 days since his last poop, and it was at least 9 days between poops before that.  When he did poo - it was normal.

The nurse at my drs office says that after 3 days of no poop I should be taking him in, but I don't think this is right- I've read it's normal for some babies to go even longer than 9 days.

My dude is FF and he poops pretty much once a day...sometimes twice, sometimes once every two days.  But when I was BFing my Dr said that they can go 10 days without pooping and it's still ok unless they are vomiting or not eating.  I'd say if he didn't struggle to poop and it wasn't hard and dry then he's likely ok going once every 9 days

I agree with PP. If he isn't having any problems when he poops, then there really isn't a problem with him pooping every 9 days. 

If you want to increase his poops, stick with any foods that begin with a p. You can also give him some diluted apple juice.

Luke is BF (and solids) also and poops once a day usually, sometimes twice a day. I think every baby is different, there isn't really a rule about how often they "should" be going. If you think he's constipated, you could always try the "P" foods (pears, prunes, etc) but if 9 days between poops is normal for him...it's normal for him.

The first 3 weeks that we started DS on solids, he pooped only once a week. By the advice of our pedi, we gave him prunes, pears, and watered down white grape juice to try to encourage things along. But ultimately, I think that was just how long it took his system to get used to the solids. Now, he poops 2-3 times a day.

I should say that we did end up giving him a suppository twice (about a third of a shaved down adult one) to give him some relief. This was per my MIL and FIL who both worked in the medical field for years.

She poops 1-2 times a day.  If she had gone 3 days without a BM, I would have definitely been calling the doctor.
