3rd Trimester

question for those using gummy prenatals

Are you keeping your gummy prenatals in the fridge?

I purchased VitaFusion gummy prenatals yesterday from Target. On the bottle is says best if refrigerated after opening -- but I had planned on carrying them in my bag back and forth to work with me. Obviously if it's a requirement - I will do it. (for example OJ would say "keep refrigerated" or "refrigerate after opening").

The vitamins are kinda giving you the option, IMO, by saying "best if".  I'm wondering what others are doing.

TIA

Re: question for those using gummy prenatals

  • I'm assuming it means they just last longer if refrigerated. My pregnancy has a shelf life, so I'm fine keeping them on my desk at work at room temperature. :)

  • I did VitaFusion gummys for awhile and just kept them in my medicine cabinet. Honestly I didn't read that closely so I never saw the fridge suggestion.

LOL @ the bolded part above.  Thanks guys!

I just took 2 (according to the package 2 gummies per serving).... they taste great.  I'm so happy I found them becuase I'm having such a hard time with the regular ones.

  • I've been taking the VitaFusion gummies for months and apparently I've never noticed that on the label, I take them at room temp.

  • I found that they melted and clumped together (into one big lump!!) during the summer so they are probably just trying to prevent that from happening more often.
  • I kept my gummies at room temperature. I lately have switched to Belly Bar prenatals; they are chewable too but more like Flinstone vitamins in consistency and actually have iron in them (my gummies did not). Also yummier!

  • I never kept mine in the fridge, but we keep it cooler in our apartment anyways. I've never had any melting issues!

  • I don't, they stay on my night stand.

  • Yes, I take them with dinner anyway so the fridge is right there.

  • I think it's fine to leave them out and did that with one of my bottles of them. I do refrigerate mine now just because I've noticed a funny aftertaste as they get older when I don't.

  • I've been taking the same kind my entire pregnancy and it took me 4 months to realize the bottle said that so I figured if they'd lasted fine for 4 months without refrigerating then they'd be fine the rest of the time. So I keep mine at room temperature.
  • I never noticed that before....and I thought I really read the label close after I realized I was taking them for 3 weeks without noticing I needed to take two instead of just one.

They even have a picture showing you to take 2, so it really made me feel silly when I figured that part out.

     Sigh...I think I su*ck at taking vitamins.

  • Not to overstep my opinion, but I remember reading the label for those in a store and said 'they gotta be kidding calling this a prenatal'. it didn't meet my OB's minimum daily requirements for supplements. I hope it is suppose to be used in addition to a regular multivitamin not a complete prenatal vitamin. If you are looking for something to chew, you can try the flinstones complete or something similar.
