Questions about Soy Isoflavones

So I was reading an article online earlier about TTC and it mentioned soy isoflavones.  I have only been on this board since August but haven't seen much mentioned about them.  I have read the little research there is on this but wondered if any of you ladies could offer more input. Obviously my cycle is probably still regulating after BCP and I'm just getting used to charting at this point  but I haven't seen any of you ladies mention this and was curious what is known about this supplement or maybe what your drs have told you.  TIA!

Re: Questions about Soy Isoflavones

  • I have heard a few times (and my nutritionist confirmed) that everyone, not just people TTC should stay away from any soy products when the soy isn't in it's natural state, for example, edamame. I am not a doctor, nor a nutritionist, but I would say stay away from taking those unless your doctor instructs you to.

  • There was a post about this earlier: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/59274471.aspx

    Here's what I said:

The very first (and only) cycle I took it, I got my BFP.

    And then I miscarried.

I will never take it again.

This x100. Taking soy isoflavones could be equated to self-prescribed hormone therapy.

I'm confused about this. Is edamame the natural state? I'm assuming so, but does that mean the nutritionalist said soy milk/bars are bad?
