Not from personal experience, but a friend of mine who delivered on 9/5 of this year used the boppy pillow to nurse and found that is sagged in the middle causing some latch and other breast feeding issues. She now uses a regular pillow under the baby and is having great success.
I used a boppy with my 2 kiddos and never loved it, but used it and tolerated it. Then I tried My Breast Friend.....soooo much more supportive and comfortable. . I keep meaning to pick one up...I need to do so!

I only used my Boppy during the day when I was sitting on the couch and never had any issues but when I used it I wrapped it around the side of my body I was feeding on. I agree with PP that a regular pillow works great and that is what I used when nursing DD in the glider in the bedroom at night

I was looking at this pillow but saw the strap and thought it might be a hassle. Did you ever feel that way? Maybe in the middle of the night or not at all?

It is a quiet strap, menaing that when you click it closed, it doesn't make a loud sound. It is wonderful on the back and the pillow basically holds up baby. I liked it so much better then the boppy. Also, there is a handy pouch where you can keep a bib, bottle of water or a snack handy. The back support is great too.

I haven't used it yet, but based on the recommendations of MULTIPLE breast feeding friends, I went with the My Breast Friend. I may buy a boppy too, just because I hear they're great for propping up baby when they're learning to sit up, etc.

I also highly, highly recommend the My Brest Friend pillow. And I loved the strap. Often when I'd hear DD crying in the middle of the night I'd hop out of bed, strap on the pillow around my waist, then go in, change her in the dark, and plop down in the recliner and be ready to nurse. For me it made things a lot easier - I wasn't struggling to hold a baby and position a pillow in the dark (keeping the lights off or very dim helped her go right back to sleep after).
I see these a lot a Craigslist too - you might watch there for a steal!

I had the Boppy... Next time I'll probably try the My Brest Friend, but I do like propping baby on the Boppy for practicing sitting and prior to that tummy time (before he could hold himself up)... I honestly don't think the Boppy was made with skinny people in mind---It fit me better when I was testing it out as a huge prego lady lol... That being said I FF now so it doesn't really affect latch or anything... prior to that I had to prop it in certain spots with a squishy stuffed animal or rice sock for extra support...
I have a Boppy from my previous pregnancy... I'll probably use it again. However, I did use the Brestfriend pillow when visiting a friend's house a few times. It was much more comfortable and wider for the baby. If I was starting from scratch, that is the one I would get!
I did not use my boppy pillow for nursing -- just never felt comfortable with it. I was fine just holding up my son, though.
I did use it to help him learn to sit up so I don't regret having it. I would reccomend the Brest friend pillow, instead. I have heard great things about it and I remember it's the pillow they used at the breast feeding clinic I attended with him. I don't remember if I used it or not though so I can't say anything from personal experience on it.
Thanks for asking this question! I was all up and ready to buy a Boppy this weekend! Glad I read all the responses... I never really looked into the My Brest Friend one... now looks like I'll be getting that one!
Proud babywearing, breastfeeding, vaccinating SAHM of 2U2!
I have the Luna Lullaby Bosom Baby nursing pillow. It's bigger than the boppy and it's an L shape rather than a C shape. I like it bc I hated having to "wrap" the boppy around me, I hardly used it! It was just a tummy time pillow for DS and I ended up just using toss pillows to prop him during nursing. The Luna is good if you don't like to have things wrapped around you.
I had both a brest friend and a boppy. I used the brest friend the first month and then switched to boppy. I hated the brest friend...it was like wearing a tv dinner table. Loved the boppy but don't know how it would have been from the beg. This time I'm getting this one
I highly recommend the mybreastfriend pillow. There is a reason that is the pillow that lactation consultants use. My DS wouldn't nurse without it. He had an immature latch but it is so much more sturdy than the boppy. He would roll on the boppy since it is rounded and not flat like the mybreastfriend.
That said my DH and I actually used the boppy later on for bottles or holding him on plane rides etc.
the my breast friend pillow. It is the best one on the market! Loved it!
THIS!!! totally!! It was awesome. I took the boppy to the hospital when I had DD because so many more people recommended it and the lactation consultant threw it off the bed and said it was worthless for breastfeeding. A friend gave me the My Breast Friend pillow and it worked like a charm. It was so much more supportive and made breast feeding so much easier. I highly recommend it. (The boppy is great for lots of other things though)

I have both the My Brest Friend and the Boppy.... Definitely prefer the My Brest Friend. It's awesome.
This time around, I'm especially going to love the fact that it straps on since this time I'll be chasing a toddler.
Just FYI in case you're going to be hunting for it.... The My Brest Friend is spelled B-R-E-S-T... no "A" in there.
GL!
I rec mybreastfriend. It stays in place and gives you a flat surface for the baby to be on.
