I'm watching Family Feud and this is the name of one of the contestants (I'm a dork, I know). How do you feel about this name? It's Scandinavian and pronounced Sig-nee.

Awww, that was the name of my dear landlady who kind of became my grandma. She was Norwegian. Signe Jones. We pronounced it sig-NEE, but sometimes I heard her Norwegian relatives call her sig-na.
I liked it. While on the hunt for THE name for DD, this one stuck out to me for a little while, but was ultimately overruled. Having Swedish background, it definitely appealed. I think it's cute, and it reminds me of a swan (...isn't a baby swan called a cignet? Or am I making that up?).

Haha, that's funny you say that. When the host on Family Feud asked how to pronounce the contestants name, she said "Sig-nee, it supposedly means swan".
She was off on the meaning, but it definitely sounds similar.

It reminds me of swans, too.
I like it... unusual but not made up. She would certainly have to explain pronunciation when meeting most new people, but this is the case with my name too, and I don't mind.

I love it because I love her, but it is odd.
This. And I think it would set the kid up for a lifetime of "What?" "Oh, how do you spell that?" "How do you pronounce that?" etc etc etc
