Were considering honoring my mother's heritage with a Portuguese/Cape Verdean name if we have a girl.My only problem is I really can't find any.Hubby even suggested Spanish names which are fine with me.Anyone have suggestions on a name? It also has to be easy to pronounce because mom had a stroke in June and her speech isnt like it used to be.Thanks!

Re: Portuguese /Cape Verdean Girl Names.

My Married Bio
Amalia is a very Portuguese name.
Other names of friends of mine from Portugal and Brazil:
Fernanda
Flora
Silvia (now I'm not sure if she spells it with a y or an i???)
Daniela
Natalia
Simone (not a Portuguese name, but she pronounces it Simone-ee)
Sonia
Tatiana (nn Tati)
Clarice (like the Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector)
Ana Claudia
Ines
I don't have any suggestions but I really liked a pp with Jordana and Amalia.
Thanks for posting this question, DH is mostly Portuguese and our last name is Portuguese. We looked at a list a little while ago and there was nothing appealing on there at all.
I really like Amalia, didn't see that before.

Thread-jacking to say I just responded to your Estrella thread again, my 2012miracle.
One of my co-workers is Portuguese and she's always talking about her million cousins with Portuguese names - unfortunately she isn't here today. Her name is Jacinta (it means hyacinth and she said it's the name of one of the three children at Lourdes) and she has a cousin Graziette (Grah-zee-ette). I can't spell any of the other names I've heard with any confidence, other than Rosa and Maria.
I REALLY like Graziette
That is my daughter's name!
