Hello , all!
Unfortunately, I will be joining you all on this board. DD had been having severe meltdowns each night since birth that would last 4-5 hours. At her 1 week check-up, the pedi tested a stool sample and found blood in it. As a result, she was diagnosed with a milk allergy
She is now on Nutramegin Lipil and is a lot better. The doc tried to appeal our health insurance to attempt to get them to cover it based on the medical necessity, but it was a no-go since it's available OTC.
For those on this or any other special OTC formula, did you find a way to help cut the cost of it down?
Is there a prescription-only version/type of hypoallergenic milk-free formula ? The ins. company said that they won't cover the Nutramegin since it's OTC but if they put her on something that is ONLY available via prescription, they couldn't deny covering it.

ellecare and neosure I think are rx only.
However- check craigslist/ebay/amazon etc. for better pricing. When I had leftover samples of ellecare I put them on craigslist. I know of several other mommies that have bought specialty formula that way also.
