I'm pretty sure all daycare's have a stiff late fee. I do in my contract....I just never go through with it. Most my parents who have been late were stuck in traffic or something understandable. I try to be reasonable and understand that things happen so I let a lot slide. No one else has taken advantage of it and they're usually very sorry. But NAPPING!?!? Ummm I have a family I would like to get home to but instead, I'm sitting here with your child for the second time while your at home napping!!! Ughhhh at least lie about it and make up something better!
Ugh, why would she ever TELL you that? I would definetley make something up better!
DH has only been late to pick up DD 1x. Usually I pick her up and it's no big deal since I work from home on the next block. I was OOT and he was stuck in awful traffic. He was 20 minutes late and they were fine with it since he called in advance and we are never late. (They didn't charge the over fee either)
Plus you want to get in good graces with your child care people! DH had a 6am meeting last month when I was OOT and was going to take her to his Mom's in Seattle on the way, then after pick her up and bring her back to daycare for the rest of the day. I was telling daycre about how she will be late, and why, blah, blah, blah and they said, no, just bring her here. We'll answer the door in our jammies at 5am and just put her back to sleep.
It was great they would allow us to take her in 2 hours befoe they actually open! (especialy since we usually drop her off at 10:30am)
Re: PSA: for those that use daycare
I think this happened a few too many times to the daycare my boss uses.
She says they charge by the minute starting at 6pm... I think it's $2 per minute? Ouch! But it seems to be very effective.
I don't think my daycare lady would let that fly with me. lol If I'm late for something personal/stupid, I make sure to have an excellent excuse!
***not that I'm ever late to pickup P, but if it were to ever happen!
