Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Teething "cookies"

Just wondering when people starting giving these to their babies.  I know there are foods like baby mum-mums that are supposed to melt in babies mouth.  I think my daughter would like them but not sure if she is old enough.  she is almost 8 months and no teeth yet, she is working on stage 2 foods. Just owndering if anyone had any suggestions. I am terrified of her choking

Re: Teething "cookies"

  • I have been debating this as well. Colleen has 2 bottom teeth and like 3 coming in the top. I recall giving dd#1 those teething biscuits when she was around 8 months or so but when I looked at the teething biscuits now they say for 12 months.

I think I might get them this weekend though. With the biscuits they get wet and mushy as baby gnaws on it and when it gets too wet it will start to break apart. That's when I would take it away.

  • Our pedi told us we could try and give DD some at her 6 month appointment. I haven't yet though.
  • DD loves the mum mums and the teething biscuits.  On the box I have it said for 9 months and up, or if they are sitting up and able to feed themself.  We are doing BLW, so I figure it would be a good food for her to have.  She hasn't had any problem with either of them.

  • My mum in law gave me some British teething biscuits called rusks. He loves them.

  • Go for it - we're doing alot of BLW with only a bit of mashed up food for our son and he has been teething hard since probably 3 months - he only has the two bottom teeth but LOVES teething biscuits - the Mr Christie's arrowroot and baby rusks - it gives him a good outlet to gnaw on - we just watch him carefully as if you are not looking he wants to put the whole biscuit in his mouth! Our boy is now 7.5 months and no problems with them - he can deavour one in a matter of minutes now!
