Hemerroids

My poor sister thinks she has one.  I believe I have heard on here that they can be caused by PNVs...is that right?  Anyone have any ideas for helping with this?  I know you can use Preparation H, but anything else?  TIA

    I've heard that witch hazel is good for them too.  Also she should up her fiber intake and maybe take a stool softener of some sort.  They suck, but in my experience only time, plus avoiding further constipation, actually makes them go away.

    PNV do not cause them, but they cause the problem that leads to hemorrhoids - constipation. 

    Prep-H is obviously the best medication (the cream doesn't do a whole heck of a lot...the suppositories do the trick...yes...I know...not enjoyable).  Tell her not to take Tylenol (as that causes constipation as well) for the pain.  Any anti-inflammatory medication will help reduce the swelling and help with the pain.

    Tell her to start drinking the metamucil that disolves in water. It will definitely do the trick.
