anyone have their gallbladder removed?

I had my first two pregnancies with mine in and it was horrible! I had it removed in June 21 of this year and we got my BFP on Oct 7. The doc said to wait 2 months at least to get pg again because my belly could be sore if I got pg too soon.

Anyway, if you had your GB removed, do you have phantom pains? I ate a lot of fried stuff the last 2 days and I started having symptoms like I used to. I heard of phantom pains, but really??? I didnt think it would feel like the beginning of an attack! I read that sometimes the ducts that are left can be irritated and cause the pain. I also wonder if my bloat is causing my muscles to feel sore again sinc ethe surgery wasnt too long ago.

Anyway, ifs its not better by tomorrow ill call the OB and ask, but any input?

Re: anyone have their gallbladder removed?

  • I had mine out way before getting pregnant. I did have phantom pains and I still do once in a while. Right after my surgery, they had to go in through my throat and check my bile ducts for more stones. They found some sludge and cleaned it out. If I eat too much fat or fried foods, I get pain, but nothing like before. HTH!

  • I delivered my DS on a Saturday and had my gallbladder removed (gall stone attack) the following Saturday.  I haven't had any phantom pains or any problems with any foods.  The only problem that I had from the surgery was the camera incision by my belly button.  Certain jeans will rub when I sit down - and it hurts!
