Aquaphor for a rash?

Ds has a rash on his neck. Is aquaphor okay to use on this? How long before I should see a difference?

Re: Aquaphor for a rash?

  • Yep!  We use it for "drool rash" all the time.  We keep it on as a protective barrier.  Our tub says it helps diaper rash in 6 hours -so maybe 6 hours?

  • I used it on DD's neck and it went away quickly.  Unfotunately it keeps coming back : (

  • My pediatrician just recommended this today! I don't have an answer of how quickly it helps though.

  • I don't know if ds has drool rash or what. It's not the red smooth irritated looking mark in the fold by his neck/chin. It's on the side of his neck and bumpy looking, it's now coming around the lower front. I've used aquaphor two times a day for 2 days now and don't see improvement. I started doubting this is what I'm supposed to use which is why I asked. How much longer would u say I should give it?

  • My baby has developed a bumpy rash on her neck which appears to be heat rash.  I tried using that ointment for a couple of days and it didn't seem to make a difference. I've done some online research and although Aquaphor will keep the bumps moist instead of getting scabby, it might actually be clogging the sweat pores and make the heat rash worse.  I've stopped putting anything on it based on my research and I'm going to wait until it goes away on its own (its been there for about 4 days now).  I hope it goes away soon as it appears to be itchy to her.
