Buffalo OB-Gyn

I asked this on the nest site, but any Buffalo ladies have a great obgyn? New to the area and need to find one...

Re: Buffalo OB-Gyn

  • haha, I thought this was going to be a specific question about the practice Buffalo OBGYN (my group).  I like them a lot.  They are 4 female doctors.  They used to practice with OMNI obgyn and then went out on their own and I followed them.  I also liked Omni, but didn't feel great about the fact that all the female doctors left when I was  34 weeks pregnant!  One of the female drs. that I had seen throughout my pregnancy still delivered DS because they were on contract to do deliveries for Omni.  It worked out well and then I switched after I had him.  They are on Main St. in Snyder and deliver at Sisters.  When I lived in Williamsville I went to Suburban Women's Health and I really don't have any complaints about them either.  They were just too far away when we moved to the southtowns and I didn't want to deliver at Suburban again due to a not so great experience there with DS#1.

  • I love Dr. Pivarunas at the Pivers center for women's health. He is fantastic and so are his nurses and NP! Love them Love them Love them.

When I had DS baby #1 I had a woman Dr. Falkner at WNY OBGYN...It worked Ok. We made it to 2 strikes but never a third. She never took my concerns seriously and skirted around all my questions

When I was pregnant with DD baby #2 I was horribly sick...to the point where I lost over 15 lbs and weighed under 120 lbs in 1st trimester. I kept telling her how sick I was and that nothing was getting better. (I was so sick I could not function) So I went to my primary MD. He drew Thyroid levels since I have a history of thyroid issues. Primary MD told me to ask OB several questions (he gave me ones to ask) He said if she did not answer questions to leave the office immediatly and not go back. SHe told me all my issues were in my head and that she did not have time to answer any of my questions. I left.Never went back

My thyroid levels came back so terrible that my Primary care MD told me I was lucky I was still pregnant. After that I needed a perinatologist and an OB who specialized in High risk pregnancies..

I believe in natural Child birth and the least amount of intervention possible.

Dr. Pivarunas supported my decisions while making sure that Baby and I were healthy. He even had several phone conversations with my Endocrinologist until my thyroid was under control.

I really wanted a woman OB put Dr. Pivarunas and almost did not go to see Dr. Pivarunas.  It turned out to be the best decision that I ever made.

I highly reccommend him...Even if you have a totally normal pregnancy with no risks.

He is head of LD at Sisters Hospital

good luck in search sorry so long had to share

  • Well, now I want to go to Sigmabella's OB cuz he sounds so awesome. :)

But seriously. I see Dr. Osman and Dr Samadi from Buffalo Medical Group. I Love them. They have an office in Sheridan Meadows (Transit and Sheridan) and also one in OP but i always liked the sheridan office better so I made the drive to that one.

  • I kinda-sorta have a thing about wanting a female OB...DH does too. The only male OB I would ever see is JenJar's ;)

I see Dr Karen Snell-Garus and she is awesome. Down to earth, smart, caring and we have referred her a lot of people...I think 5 total and all love her.

She's in east amherst I think - I haven't been to her new office yet. But she joined up with an OB from lockport and they are now Women's Wellness Associates (or something very similar to that)

  • I see Dr Erk in WIlliamsville on Wherle.  There are two Dr Erks (husband and wife) and Dr Baczkowski (female).  The husband is my doctor, but I've seen all of them and Dr Baczkowski did my kinda-emergency c-section.  They are all great.

A friend recommended them.  She sees the wife and they were supportive of her home-birth for her last child.  (She's actually my brother's friend from high school.  He was kind enough to ask her for an OB recommendation for his sister.  Talk about awkward.  I love my brother!)

My oldest was born in Syracuse and he broke his collar bone on the way out because he was so big.  The first doctor I saw when I moved to Buffalo looked at my history and said matter of factly "if you have another child it will have to be via c-section."  (His name was Dr Brian Smith and I think his office was in Cheektowaga.)  I never went back.  Dr Erk discussed the risks, monitored Alex's size and let me decide for myself without pressure if I wanted a c-section or not.

  • Dr. Marcy Cloud in Lancaster- near Salvatores on Transit.  I love her.  She is always running behind because she spends so much time with patients but she is fantastic.  She's worth the wait for me.

I see Dr Erk (Susan), but I've also seen Mehmet (her husband)- he did both my D&C's. I saw Dr. B for my annual last year, and she inserted my IUD. I also really like the NP, but I can't remember her name.

I've been going to the practice for 10+ years. I will say, I used to strongly dislike the office staff (some), but in the past few years the older mean lady retired and it's much better! The office is beautiful... they moved to a the brand new building about 4 years ago. Dr. B is new to the practice.

I love Susan, she is so nice, she's almost too nice. But you can tell she's super genuine. She is really supportive of natural births, if that's for you. I ended up w/ a c-section... but never felt pressured into it or anything. She is the type of doctor who will call you personally to follow up. She called after both my miscarriages just to see how I was holding up, and told me I could call her anytime if I needed anything.

  • I go to surburban womens healthcare on delaware. All the staff are women. I just had DS 2 months ago and was pleased with my care there.

THIS...I am 36 weeks pregnant and have mostly seen Dr. Samadi.  She's awesome and calls a spade a spade. If you want honest, straight-forward information and guidance, Buffalo Medical Group (and these ladies in particular) are what you want.

  • I have my first appointment at All Care for Women next week. This is my first baby and I am about 5 weeks along (according to my last period).

I am really really nervous. They have answered my questions very quickly and returned phone calls promptly, and I like that they are open until 7pm because I have no more paid time off hours left because of our upcoming honeymoon. But I have never been there before and they expressed concernthat they have no medical history for me. Has anyone had experience with All Care for Women on Transit in East Amherst?
