How is the squirrel chewing? I stopped them for now by putting a plastic grocery bag around one of the posts.....it rattles around in the wind enough to keep them from sitting and chewing. I put it so it blows around the platform that they were sitting on.

Damage is done but I hope they stay off and don't make it worse, stupid rodents!

Funny you should ask... as far as I know, I don't see any more damage on the swingset.  But I was clipping some plants in this little landscaped area we have, and we have little accent lights that have wires connecting to little solar panels - and I noticed the base of the wire (like a big connector) was chewed up pretty well. 

So annoying!  I wouldn't even know what to do.  I know for a lot of birdhouses, squirrels try to chew their way in and so manufacturers put copper around the opening of the birdhouse (the hole), but aside from metal stuff, seems like everything else is fair game

::butting in:: We had this problem with our swingset. Our bee exterminator recommended cayanne pepper. We just mixed up a bottle with a clear coat paint. Then we painted it on the bottom and anywhere they would climb up. Knock on wood, it worked. No more chewing on the wood. And it's natural, and since it's in the paint it's safe around kids. We used clear coat paint b/c her swingset is red wood, but you can mix it into any paint I'm thinking. Worth a try if you feel up to it. We put it on the post for the bird feeder too, they no longer get into it::butting out::

Our set is plastic =(....I tried the bitter spray sold at pet shops to keep dogs from chewing. Although natural it was still icky....R got it on his hands and in turn mouth! The squirrels didn't mind and still chewed! =/

This was dh's thought too! I said the neighbors would be upset....he said bb gun's are not loud!

Are squirrels scared of those fake owl things?   I wonder if that would be an option..
