Have any of you AP taken these classes?  There is a session coming up that is at our hospital where she will give birth....but not sure if this would be Beneficial for us to attend since alot of the class is going over Labor and Delivery??

Re: Prenatal Classes???

  • No, but we did take an infant care class.
  • I worked as a labor and delivery nurse and I think that this class would be great if you are going to have a really active role in the delivery- such as a labor coach, or if you are planning to breastfeed. Other than that, I would probably try and find an infant care class. :-)

  • Before our DD was discharged we did an infant care class that was offered on the PP floor to all discharging parents. We did not attend a class prior to that.
  • we have a local hospital that is particularly known for labor and delivery - my sister delivered there. we called and explained our situation and asked if they had a training video. they do, and they sent it to us for free! it was very helpful, and felt more comfortable to us than attending the class.
  • I don't know about classes--but with our last adoption, I'd been too superstitious to learn anything about babies until a week before the due date, when I was frantically flipping through infant care manuals at the library....!   I think I spent the first month of my daughter's existence just playing catch-up on the basics.  :)

At least read some books about what you'll need to know for your specific situation, whether it involves pregnancy or baby care!
