P90X or 30 Day Shred? (clicky)

Hi Ladies - I'm jumping over from Babies 0-3 and wondering which program you all prefer.

I was sick for the first part of my pregnancy and on modified bedrest for the second half. I am so out of shape now! I just got clearance to start a program again and I'm looking at p90x and 30 day shred.

Feel free to tell me why you prefer the one you picked.

  • I know this is a clicky response but as a fitness freak so I have to answer...

    1. What is your current fitness level?

    2. Where was your fitness level b4 pregnancy?

    3. How much time do you have?

    4. What results are you looking for?

    30 Day Shred is a nice time oriented program with a beginner/moderate fitness level.  Might be great to get up back into the swing of working out and attack P90X after.

    P90X is for a moderate/high fitness level and if you follow the program 100% some day's your workout is 1 1/2 hours or longer.  It gives great results but I honesty recommend ChaLEAN Extreme or P90.  ChaLEAN is more time oriented (30 to 45 min 5 days a week) and focuses on muscle building and toning.

    Before pregnancy I was doing ChaLEAN Extreme and TurboFire and as my pregnancy progressed I tweaked my routine and added Yoga Booty Ballet: Baby on the Way.  Now that I?m in my third trimester I?m YBB: Baby on the Way, speed walking and coaching/refing soccer games.

  • I haven't tackled P90X (although I would love to) but I LOVED 30DS. I got great results with it; 8lbs and around 3 inches off my waist, more definition in my upper body and thighs. I wasn't too slim to begin with (around 160 at 5'5") so for the 20 minutes a day it took, I am quite happy and would recommend it to anyone.

    All of that being said, it is kind of hard on the knees.

  • Between the feedback here, on the Babies board and some other research, I think I've decided to do the 30 Day shred twice and then do P90X starting in January.

    I don't have a bunch of time right now and Dagny's schdule is still up in the air. By January our routine should be more established and work slows down enough for me to add 90 minute workouts.

  • I voted for 30DS. I liked it a lot.

    But I also did TaeBo and find that to be an amazing workout. TaeBo is more like an hour long and it involves heavy sweating!

  • I think they are two totally different programs.  I've done both, but P90X is much more intense.

    I actually grew to LOVE ChaLean Extreme, which is a heavy weight, low rep program offered through Beachbody.  I still do the lifting videos now, but modify stuff that requires laying on my back.

  • I just started Supreme 90 Day.  It's similar to P90X, but a lot cheaper.  I've only done a few days so far, but I could really feel it the next day.
