I have a couple of friends with newborns who take their babies to public places etc all the time. On of my friends with a 6 week old even signed her baby up for "gymboree" (i.e. germboree).
It is my understanding that RSV can be just as dangerous for a very young infant as for a preemie, am I wrong? I don't want to scare my friends so I don't say anything to them.
Re: Are any of your friends with full term babies concerned about RSV?
I wonder if pedis even warn full term babies about it? I just feel like it is such a huge thing in our lives (avoiding it, fighting for our synagis etc) and they aren't even aware of what it is. Many of my friends are even planning huge family gatherings in Thanksgiving with kids who are in school and DC.

I think it's not a big deal to them. They just see it as a bad cold.
I know another May Momma's daughter has RSV right now. Can't remember where she lives, but her baby was full term.
I'm not a preemie mom (my daughter was full-term at 38 weeks), but I figured I'd jump in.
I'm REALLY concerned about RSV because I had it in April while I was pregnant. I was sick beyond belief, and especially because I was pregnant, they couldn't give me much to help it. It was hellish. I've inquired about getting Synagis for my daughter or for me, but neither of us qualify.
I can only imagine how much worse it is for a full-term baby or a preemie.
But despite my concern, I also feel like I need to weigh caution versus my own sanity. We go to Gymboree twice a week, partially because if I didn't get out of the house, I'd go stark raving mad. DD is still really young, so we don't use any of the equipment, and the parents are really the ones touching the toys. We still worship the god of Purell though.
