4 month old scooting around the crib?!

My DD is 4 months old and has recently discovered that she can scoot her way around the crib. The problem is that she runs into the sides and wakes herself up, multiple times a night. Anyone have this problem or any advice? Or does she just need to grow out of it?

Re: 4 month old scooting around the crib?!

  • My daughter does the crib dance every night, and has since about 3 months old.  There's really nothing we found that can stop it, we just put her in opposite part of the crib that she usually ends up.  She still does this but thankfully it doesn't bother her as much when she wakes up to find herself smashed in the corner.  So hopefully your DD will outgrow being freaked out.

  • Our DD did this also.. Seems like she has grown out of scooting around. I think its normal. DD used to do laps in her crib & every now & then hit her head. I was always on the lookout with the monitor.

  • DS1 would do this when he was 5 or 6 months old and unfortunately there is really not much you can do. Just put her on the complete opposite area of the crib that she usually ends on and hopefully that will help a little.  Luckily DS1 could put himself back to sleep at the point he started doing it so I'm sure it must be really frustrating for you. GL!

  • My 3 month old has been doing this for a couple weeks now. Some mornings I wake up and his face is smooshed up in the corner and both arms are sticking out the slats of the crib. Yesterday he woke himself up bc his arm was stuck out and he was trying to suck his hand and he couldnt get it back in. I just make sure to stick him so his feet are touching the far end and make sure I keep everything soft out of the crib.
