Activities like yoga or Little Gym for multiples?

Most of my SAHM friends have done a ton of activities with their kids, like yoga, Little Gym, music classes, etc. I'm not planning to do many of these things, since money is kind of tight and DS1 is already in preschool and eating up even more of our budget. But have you taken your multiples to any of these kind of classes? It seems like they all require one-on-one adult participation.

Re: Activities like yoga or Little Gym for multiples?

  • We did Gymboree for one session, starting around when the boys were 10 months or so.  I couldn't have done it alone - dh brought the boys with me (he's able to as he works from home and thank God has a flexible schedule).  I don't go out anywhere near as often as friends do with their singletons - to me it's not worth it.  Me handling the 2 boys on my own in a restaurant, at a park or at the library sucks.  I mean, it's not a complete disaster, I'm capable but it's - not worth it.  Too difficult to really enjoy.  Probably will be easier when they're 2+.  (I hope!)
  • I haven't yet.  But maybe you could do story time at the library?  it's free here.  They also have some activities at some of the other libraries near here.

  • I did My Gym with them and DH when they were around 14-18 mos, and once they were 3, they did Little Gym.  I was very happy both times, and when I had to go on my own, the instructors always helped out and took one.  Little Gym does a 50% discount (I think) for twins, which made it very affordable.

  • I take my boys to "Baby Time" at our local library by myself.  It is free and they are pretty easy to control there.  I haven't tried any other classes.
  • I have been doing Gymboree on and off since they were 5mths old. I have been members at 2 dif locations. Both were OK with me being one parent/two kids though the rules state differently.

When they were tiny, the teachers helped me out a lot. Now, they are both mobile, but well behaved so, while I can rarely get them to both want to do all the same activities in the class, I just go with the flow, and they stick together enough that I am not chasing one or the other, KWIM? It has been a really good experience for them & me. Also, the open gym times are as beneficial as the classes themselves.

Groupon has discounts for them sometimes if you keep an eye out. GL :)

  • we did Gymboree, but like pp mentioned dh was able to come with me.  We did library storytime when they were little, maybe 10 months for a few weeks.  Then we just started storytime again and it's much better now!
  • The girls did a session at the Little Gym and loved it.  Dh did come with me to those classes.

Now we are at gymboree and I take them alone.  There is another twin mom in there and she sometimes comes alone with her daughters.  It is a small room and they are usually playing near each other so it isnt too bad.

  • I take my twins, 17 months, to the mommy and me program at our local library. It's led by the librarian we sing songs and say nursery ryhmes sp?. I am able to manage the kids by myself and we attend a music class that I can do myself w the twins. I did a yoga class w the kids and had to make sure I had a friend who could come w me each time bc it is pretty one on one, same thing w the swim class. I emailed some friends who are also SAHMs and whose kids are older and in school. I booked a friend for each class and thanked them each week they helped out w a coffee. It was a nice chance to catch up.
