Evan has a "skull abnormality"

Since Evan was about 2 months old I noticed a severe flat spot on his head - it seemed to me more than a normal flat spot.  I took him in and talked to the doctor who told me it was normal and it would even out.  It didn't.  So I asked her to look at it today at his 4 month.  She asked me to take him in right away for x-rays due to a "skull abnormality."  She said it could be a fusion that may require skull surgery. If it isn't a fusion have to go to a neurosurgeon and look at getting him a helmet. 

 I'm mad at myself that I trusted at his 2 month and didn't press to go to a specialist.  What if at that point it wasn't a fusion and a helmet would have taken care of it over skull surgery?  I have to wait until tomorrow for the x-rays to be reviewed but have been on and off crying since.  Please send all thoughts and prayers to Evan.  We could use all we can get. 

And to top it off, it's my birthday.  Safe to say we need to chalk this up to my worst.

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this.  Try not to  beat yourself up about not pushing more at the 2 month appt.  We trust our pedis and it's disappointing when something like this happens.  Hopefully it's just a helmet fix and he'll be good to go!  And you can always get good advice from MrsWhite re: the helmet.  Good luck and keep us posted!

K- just send you an email before I saw your post.  Hip was fine.  Sadly I made a joke to Gail before I went that I should tell them not to bother with the hip but check his head instead...ugh.

Oh, poor little guy! I will pray that it can be fixed with just the helmet. Try not to beat yourself up too much, it is hard to question a doctor's 'authority'. I'm sure it will all turn out fine. Until then try to be positive and have a fun birthday with your LOs! Happy Birthday.
