frustrated...

i told some of my coworkers that i was pregnant, and one of them asked about how my bf was handling things.

i told her he was still in shock and processing everything, and she said "what is there to process? it's a done deal! he's not going to be there for you, he just doesn't want to look bad in front of everyone else so he's stalling and telling you he's thinking about it."

how could she say something like that when she doesn't even know my bf or me that well? it's only been 4 days since i've told him and i wouldn't expect anyone to know what to do after 4 days if the news came as a TOTAL surprise, like this pregnancy did.

i just don't understand some people...:(

Re: frustrated...

  • This might sound rude as well, but why would you be so bothered by something that a mere acquaintance said?  If you know it's not true and you know that everything will turn out fine, then that's all that matters.  I wonder if you ARE in fact worried that he's not going to handle it very well.

  • Fact: People have differing opinions about things. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

It doesn't mean she is right, and it wasn't tactful of her to say it.

  • it's probably just hormones, but i'm more frustrated at the fact that she had no problem saying something like that to someone she just works with...

  • I will say-I was not ready to be a parent and when I found out I was pregnant it took me a little while to kind of adjust to everything- and the baby's father (who I am no longer with) was totally cool with it- so it was the opposite of your situation. And I understand the being upset by your coworkers statements (and its totally normal to be a little emotional about all kinds of things- I sure was! :) Its a totally shift in perspective and even though it is a "done deal" it takes a minute to wrap your mind and heart around it... I hope everything works out and that he deals in a way that is good for both you, him, and the new baby to be!! But trust me, everyone has an opinion about how and what your pregnancy and parenthood should/could/will be- but hang in there!!
